Deep Diver

The lure of the deep. There’s something exciting and mysterious about exploring deeper dive sites while scuba diving. Sometimes it’s a wreck that attracts you below 60 feet, and on wall dives it may be a giant fan or sponge.

Learn to manage your gas supply, go over buddy contact procedures, and buoyancy control.

Whatever it is, to scuba dive with confidence at depths down to 130 feet, you should take the PADI Deep Diver Specialty course.

If you’ve earned the PADI Advanced Diver rating or higher, and you’re at least 15 years old, you can enroll in the Deep Diver course.

Project Aware

Project AWARE’s philosophy is to mobilize a global force of scuba divers and water enthusiasts who care about protecting the world’s water resources and choose to make a difference – one dive at a time. By earning the Project AWARE Specialist certification, you’ll be aware of the most pressing problems facing vulnerable aquatic environments and know what everyday actions you can take to help protect them.

Anyone who has an interest in the aquatic world should take this course. There are no prerequisites, age restrictions or water sessions required for this non-diving specialty.

Through classroom discussions, you learn:

  • How Project AWARE unites scuba divers and water enthusiasts to make a difference.

  • About environmental issues in the ocean commons and coastal zones.

  • About fisheries challenges and sustainability problems.

  • What’s happening to coral reefs and reef inhabitants.

  • Your role in protecting aquatic environments.

Self Reliant Diver

This specialty is for anyone that wants to continue their dive education and move beyond being co-dependent on a buddy for additional safety! That doesn't mean we suggest you dive without a buddy, just that you will be a much more capable diver who can handle your own emergencies and know what it takes to dive solo! This course is ideal for photographers, videographers and dive professionals. This course isn’t just about diving on your own; it’s about becoming more self-reliant whether in a buddy pair or dive team. This course will give you the tools to become better prepared diver, whatever the situation. You will learn when diving solo is applicable and when it isn't, and how to compensate for the extra safety a buddy provides when diving solo.

The goals of the course are:

1. To develop understanding of the value and application of the buddy system and the philosophy of, and motivation for, diving without a partner.

2. To introduce the potential risks, risk management techniques and the need for equipment redundancy in self-reliant diving.

3. The value of equipment redundancy and what back-up equipment is needed.

4. To improve self-reliant dive skills, dive planning and gas management abilities.

During the course you will be asked to demonstrate your ability to navigate emergency situations, such as a loss of mask or an out of air situation, and your ability to use navigation and estimated distance to conduct a dives' direction.

To enroll in the PADI Self Reliant Diver course, you must be 18 years or older and have at least the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or have a qualifying certification from another organization).

You must have a minimum of 100 logged dives.

To qualify, divers must also complete a dive skills assessment.
